In November 2024, Trek Relief’s team traveled to Nepal to support The Small World’s Seeds of Hope program in Solukhumbu. Our mission was to provide both financial and hands-on support to build climate-resilient food systems, promote food security, and empower women through agricultural training and community development. The trip also included a trek to Pikey Peak, where participants combined adventure with meaningful service, deepening their connection with the community.
Boosts Agriculture and Economic Independence for 60 Families
In a recent initiative, Trek Relief’s team of five participants donated $5,000 to The Small World, helping 60 families in Solukhumbu receive seeds, greenhouse materials, and training in farming. This support has allowed families to prepare their fields, build greenhouses, and increase their crop yields. As a result, women are now selling extra produce, helping them gain financial independence and improve their lives.
Festivities Celebrate the Completion of the Greenhouse Project
The success of the project was driven by the active participation of local community members. The homeowner and family helped with the greenhouse construction, while the village shamans and around 50 women welcomed the team with blessings and joined the closing celebration. Through this program, the community is now able to grow vegetables year-round, sell surplus produce, and build a sustainable income.
Pikey Peak Trek: A Journey of Reflection and Connection
Following the completion of the Seeds of Hope, Trek Relief’s team set out on the Pikey Peak trek, a relaxing yet rewarding journey through Nepal’s stunning landscapes. This journey became a meaningful conclusion to the project, combining adventure with reflection and strengthening the bond between the team and the community.
