Trek Relief Awards $1,500 Program Creation Grant to Sebastián Arriagada for Patagonia Environmental Initiatives

We are thrilled to announce Sebastián Arriagada as the first recipient of Trek Relief’s Program Creation Grant. This $1,500 grant recognizes Sebastián’s exceptional dedication to environmental conservation and community engagement in Patagonia, aligning perfectly with Trek Relief’s core values of sustainability, conscious travel, and uplifting impactful changemakers.

Honoring an Environmental Visionary

Sebastián Arriagada

Sebastián’s work has transformed environmental awareness in a rural Patagonian region. His initiatives include:

  • Launching the region’s first community-wide recycling program, creating sustainable waste solutions.

  • Building relationships with local educators and residents, fostering collaboration and shared stewardship.

  • Developing an organic permaculture teaching garden with the support of Trek Relief’s Patagonia Program Director, Sarah Nguyen.

This garden is more than a teaching tool—it’s a space for hands-on learning in sustainable food production, encouraging food self-sufficiency and a deeper appreciation for locally sourced resources.

The Trek Relief Board of Directors and our entire team are proud to recognize Sebastián’s vision, courage, and dedication. His work not only addresses immediate environmental challenges but also lays the foundation for a sustainable future in Patagonia.

A Celebration of Leadership and Impact

By awarding this grant, we celebrate Sebastián’s remarkable achievements and look forward to supporting the ongoing impact of his initiatives. His leadership serves as an inspiration to all, embodying Trek Relief’s mission to create meaningful, lasting change in the communities we serve.

Congratulations, Sebastián—you’re a true reflection of Trek Relief’s values and the incredible potential of collective action.
